WHAT IS THE MUSIC HUNT?
the music hunt is finding all those artists and musicians who would like to be part of the development process for our first title, The Chronicles Of Artana. By creating atmospheric arrangements, and creating sounds, we can not only get the help we need from artists, but we can also promote them as well in the credited scenes.
WHATS IN IT FOR THE MUSICIANS?
in time, when we finally get everything rolling and peak around to the release time, or at least the early access to the game. We will be looking into creating an original soundtrack (OST) for sale on our front page.
WHAT?! YOU GONNA SELL OUR MUSIC TO PROFIT FROM IT? YOU JERK!
no, that is not the case. all the money we earn from selling the soundtrack, will be divided amongst the artists equally. We will not be making a cent off the actual soundtrack. The money would be for them.
SO WHATS IN IT FOR BASEMENT DWELLER STUDIOS THEN? WHY ARE BEING SO NICE?!
Well none of us are musically inclined enough, or if we are, do not have time to compose and write the music, sounds, and atmospheric ambients for our game. So with doing it this way, not only are we promoting the artists, but we also earn some indie artists and projects some money as well.
everyone wins. we get music, sounds, and ambient stuff. the artist gets their name out there, and some money from the sales of the album.
WELL WE ARE NOT HAPPY WITH JUST THAT. BECAUSE...I DO NOT KNOW, I AM CREATING THESE QUESTIONS OUT OF THIN AIR! WHAT ELSE DO WE GET?
Not only do you get money if the album does sell (it probably will, so much talent out there). We are also giving each artist that is approved for this, a free copy of the game for life. this goes for each member of your group. This also includes the closed beta, a vanity item of your choice.
WELL I ONLY WANT TO CREATE A BUNCH OF SOUNDS BECAUSE I AM NOT REALLY GOOD AT COMPOSING! WHAT ABOUT MY CUT?
with just creating ambient and atmospheric arrangements or just creating sounds, you will still be credited on our page and within the game. as well as get a cut of the soundtrack money as well.
I DO NOT GET IT! WHY NOT JUST HIRE ON A SOUND ENGINEER OR COMPOSER TO DO YOUR MUSIC?
I found that creating a community project for this would bring people together to work on stuff, and this way not only helps us, but also gets money into talented artists pockets.
but!
once all the arrangements are in, and put together. we will be selecting 1 lucky musician if they so choose to do so. to come and work with us and be our official music composer and creator, and will have the honor of working on the music for our opening cut scene, as well as the trailers, and be credited in them as a whole as well.
HOLY S&%T! THIS SOUNDS AWESOME! WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?
the requirements are as follows:
- For Musical Arrangements -
- the song must be at least 3 to 4 minutes long, and be loopable. can be longer then 4 minutes if you like. but 3 minutes is minimum.
- the songs can be anything thing from dark, epic arrangements, melodic, chants.
- we are seeking medieval, bard like, fantasy arrangements.
- must be cleaned, your original work (obviously so we can use it.)
- must put your love and sweat into it (just kidding, but it does not hurt.)
- For Ambient Arrangements -
- the ambient can be anything from wind blowing, ruffling of leaves, birds, rain, storms, snow fall, dungeon echos, outside noise from an inside perspective, sounds of water flowing, waterfalls, etc etc. you get the idea.
- must be loopable but not linear, this can probably be accomplished by creating a fairly long ambient over 5 minutes or so.
- must be cleaned and your original work
- For Sound Arrangements -
- we need sounds for monsters, swords, bush russelling, glass clanging, sword clashing, dragon roars, fire burning, walking in water, walking on snow, etc etc. you get the idea
- sounds can be as short as they need to be. but must be a solid quality.
- must be original work, this could in include altering, and changing up completely. you know what i mean.
NOTE: there is no time limit on this. we are still working very hard and long to get to where we need to get to. we will give everyone at least a month notice of when the cut off date will be.
SHARING YOUR TRACK AND SUBMISSIONS
please use a music sharing website to share your music so we can hear what you are working on! this could be on soundcloud, reverbnation, beatport, etc.
when submitting music, please include it as an mp3 format and email it to basementdwellerstudios@gmail.com. with the subject line of " [MUSIC HUNT!][AREA]" where the [AREA] be if its a sound, music, or ambient. also include your full name, who arranged it and worked on it, your group, or music project name, and give a brief description of the track. why you like it? what gave you the idea of making it? what type of setting you think it would fit well into. etc.
